Original MANOWAR Guitarist ROSS THE BOSS Signs With AFM RECORDS
July 20, 2007Original MANOWAR guitarist Ross The Boss has inked a deal with Germany's AFM Records.
Commented Ross: "Needless to say, we are all extremely happy and pleased to know that that we are joining a great metal family and can't wait to start work on our first CD."
Markus Wosgien, A&R of AFM Records, stated: "Ross was an important part of MANOWAR in their early days and the songs we heard so far brought back this special feeling you hardly can describe. We are very proud about his trust and belief in AFM Records and expect a heavy metal record that will write history again! Ross' guitar style is unique and with his German members he has the right metalheads along."
Ross founded MANOWAR along with Joey DeMaio in the early '80s and recorded such metal milestones as "Battle Hymns" (1982),"Into Glory Ride" (1983),"Hail to England" (1984),"Sign of the Hammer" (1984),"Fighting The World" (1987) and "Kings of Metal" (1988). He left the band after the recordings of "Kings of Metal" and made a brief appearance with them at the legendary Earthshaker Fest in 2005.
In 2006 Ross played along with the MANOWAR cover band MEN OF WAR, featuring members of the German metal act IVORY NIGHT, at the Keep It True festival, playing songs from the early MANOWAR albums. More shows followed and finally Ross decided to make a new record with the same musicians under the name ROSS THE BOSS.
ROSS THE BOSS' debut album will be released in 2008. Samples of two songs, entitled "I Got the Right" and "We Will Kill", are available for download at this location. Video footage of ROSS THE BOSS performing the MANOWAR classic "Hail and Kill" at the Rock Hard Festival in Germany is available at YouTube.
